The Art of the Hustle: A Day in the Life of Spitfire Labs on the Road
Every weekend, while most people are enjoying a lazy morning, we’re already on the road. Running Spitfire Labs, our laser-engraved original art business, means hitting the pavement to bring our work to conventions, markets, and shows. And let’s just say—it’s an adventure every time.
The Road Trip Begins
Our day kicks off early. Coffee in hand, car packed with carefully arranged displays and inventory, we hit the road for a drive that ranges from one to two hours. Whether it's a bustling city convention or a charming local market, the journey is part of the experience—good music, early morning fog, and the anticipation of what’s ahead.
The Art of the Setup
Arriving at the venue, we check in, find our designated spot, and start setting up. Depending on the size of the event, this can take anywhere from an hour to an entire day. Our booth isn’t just a table with some artwork; it’s an experience. We meticulously arrange our engraved pieces, ensuring that every item has its moment to shine. The goal? To create a space that draws people in and reflects the passion behind our work.
The Best Part – Meeting You!
Once the event kicks off, it’s showtime! We get to meet fellow artists, dedicated customers, and new faces who are just discovering Spitfire Labs. The best part of doing these events is the connections we make—the shared excitement when someone finds the perfect piece, the stories we hear from those who appreciate handcrafted art, and the camaraderie among vendors who are all chasing their creative dreams.
Breaking Down and Heading Home
As the show winds down, it’s time to break it all down. Dismantling the booth, packing up the artwork, and fitting everything back into the car (a true-life game of Tetris) takes a couple of hours. We say our goodbyes to our vendor friends, exchanging stories and laughter before we hit the road once again.
The drive home is a mix of exhaustion and fulfillment. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of knowing we’ve shared our passion with the world and connected with our community. By the time we pull into the driveway, it’s late—but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Why We Do It
It’s not just about selling art; it’s about sharing a piece of ourselves. Every engraving, every design, every long day at an event is fueled by our love for what we do and the people who support us. So next time you see Spitfire Labs at a show, stop by, say hi, and be part of the journey. We’d love to meet you!
